Animals
In addition to our salt-water fish tank, we have added chicken and lop rabbits to our animal program. Individual classes may also have their own pets. Young children can learn many things through animal care.
- Caring for a pet teaches responsibility and empathy and raises a child’s self esteem.
- Children can learn about the life cycle first hand.
- Animal pets can get young children excited about learning as they explore new interests and expand their view of nature.
- Pets can also relieve stress in the classroom. Small animals can often provide an outlet for kids when they are trying.
