Garden-Based Learning
Our natural setting with a school garden and an adjacent creek offers a unique close-to-nature learning environment. The school garden provides plenty of self-guided learning for our children as they plant with the teachers, look for bugs and new growth. Our teachers use this outdoor classroom to introduce environment education, ecological literacy, experiential learning, as well as math and scientific concepts. A vegetable garden can also help children develop a lifelong love of healthy foods. The children truly enjoy harvesting, carving or cooking the pumpkins they grow before Halloween.
